About Us
Northside Boards is a little skateboard shop located between the great plains and the big woods, 45 minutes south of Minneapolis in the magnificent corn fields of southeastern Minnesota, with a view of the winding Cannon River and the plumes of smoke of the Post cereal factory, situated right by the town square of Northfield, where the town crier wakes up the townsfolk every morning to ensure that everyone is up and ready to keep the town alive and bustling with bald bearded beer sippers, elderly, elderly dog walkers, and strangely dressed students, as it always is.
We have been around for roughly three years, founded in the fall of 2021 by Tyler Westman, a man who loves serving the community and cares deeply for those who are authentic, free, and caring, as skaters often are. Tyler decided to start the shop after meeting a few of the local skaters, and quickly became a friend to all and a valuable member of the skate scene in Northfield.
As we became situated in the Northfield community, we moved to our current location from a tiny ~200 square foot shop on the outskirts of downtown to the current, spacious shop we now have at 409 Division Street, right in the center of it all. Arguably the most central and important shop in downtown Northfield(we run these streets), we are always around to support those in need of a new skate or snowboard setup, scooter stuff, clothes, scooter or skate lessons, or just a spot to come in for a quick chat with some Northfielder's that care about the city and skate scene. Northside is now the largest skate/scooter/snowboard shop in southern Minnesota, and we are constantly pursuing new projects to grow and support the skate, snowboard and scooter scenes of the area, as well as around the country.
