Frequently Asked Questions

Snowboard Lease Program

Can a customer just purchase the board at the end of the lease and return Boots and Bindings?
Yes! We will give you a buy out on each individual part of the setup and at the time you can decide what you want to keep or return.

How does the lease program work?
Come into Northside Boards located at 409 Division St S. Northfield, MN 55057 and we will you get sized up on a new setup!  You can lease a full setup or an individual components.  For example, you can just lease the board or a new set of bindings.  If you want to explore the world of StepOns, we can lease you the binding and boot for the season to see if you want to make the full leap and spending $700 plus on the boot and binding.

How Long is the Lease program?
Northside’s lease program is from November 15th through April 15th.  We will email you about 30 days prior to the end of the lease as a reminder that your setup is due back at April 15th.  At that time, we will also send you a buyout price on your set up and you have the option to buy the setup or just a portion of it.  If you decide against buying out the snowboard setup, just bring it back to the shop by April 15th no questions asked!

Is there any deals with getting the boards serviced during the lease period?
Yes! We will give you a punch card for 5 free hot wax’s and edge tunings.  This helps us keep the board fresh and repair any accidental nicks or dings that need to be addressed.  Large blunders might be an additional charge depending on the repair.

Is there any warranty on the boards, bindings or boots?
The setup comes with all the manufacturers warranty at the time of the lease.  You can also opt in for additional Northside Warranty if you are leasing a second year board.  This will extend the manufactures warranty by us and we will cover the board with the same warranty you would get from the manufacturer.

How many seasons do you lease the boards for?
Northside will lease a board, boot or binding for two seasons.  After that, it will be reconditioned and sold under our used snowboard line.  This helps the customer ensure they are getting all the fresh technology with their lease setup.

What happens if a board gets damaged, lost or stolen?
Northside offers additional insurance to cover these unfortunate events.  You can purchase insurance for an additional $25 at the time of lease.  If you decide against the additional insurance, there may be additional charges for a damaged board not covered under warranty, lost or stolen boards that cannot be returned at the end of the lease program.  We will look at each of these events with a case by case approach.  We will do our best to ensure you have a positive experience when lease a setup with us.

What age range is the lease program for?
Many companies offer a Junior lease program, but here at Northside we thought it would be fun to extend that to people of all ages.  That is why we have created different levels for our lease program.  Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Why would I want to lease versus buy?
We here at Northside understand that people begin there snowboard journey at all different times in their life.  We also understand the cost of entry into snowboarding can be daunting.  Our lease program gives all people the ability to test it out and decide whether snowboarding is something you are passionate about and want to continue.  If it is, you have the ability to buy the setup at the end of the lease.  If it isn’t your cup of tea, you can return the setup and don’t have to mess around trying to sell your used board on a market place or collect dust in the corner of your garage. If you are a parent getting your kid into snowboarding, this also gives you the ability to get your child a top quality setup without having to break the bank each year as they grow out of their boots, bindings and boards.   Another benefit of leasing a board, is that we believe it is a quiver killer.  If you are anything like us here, we love to try all the different tech and styles of boards.  So if you decide you want to try a different style board i.e. pow board, you can add it to the quiver for a season and either add it to the collection for good at the end of the season or return it no problem.

Can’t I just rent a board from one of the resorts rather than lease?
Yes for sure!  We also rent boards here at Northside if you want to skip the line at the resort and get more time on the slopes.  But the benefit of leasing a board versus renting is the board you lease is your set up for the season!  When leasing the board you get the opportunity to make sure each time you show up to the hill your setup is dial in.  Everyone’s setup is a little different and when you lease a board you not only have the top tech in the business, you also ensure your binding angles, setbacks and stance width is to your liking for the season.  We will help you get dialed in too before you leave with your new board or make adjustments as your progress in your snowboard journey!
